The thicker pad avoids contact between the harness and the back of the neck and fills in the unevenness in the upper dorsal muscles to reduce pressure and pain in the neck and back of the neck while reducing vertical movement of the storage (pic.1, 2). The thick padding with 8mm cushioning inserts fills the unevenness in the upper dorsal muscles (gap between the storage and the back), increasing the degree of contact and reducing vertical pack sway (pic. 3).
